#176: Eve Online, The Honorverse, Clear Skies, Interview with Ian Chisholm

This week we discuss the awesome MMO Eve Online and David Weber’s Honorverse, joined by in-studio guest GWCer Juan! Highlights: we talk to the talented and fun Ian Chisholm (creator of the machinima feature films Clear Skies and Clear Skies 2), compare Eve’s all-PvP universe to other MMOs, taste a bit of the yarr with long-time Eve pirate (and Eve blogger at lifeinlowsec.blogspot.com) Mynxee, hear about Sean’s Eve-hooker experience, discuss the connection (in both strategy and technology) between Eve and the Honorverse, talk true leadership and Honor Harrington’s take on the subject, love on Nimitz (the badass tree cat), and generally enjoy sharing some of our favorite sci-fi film, literature, and gaming material. Enjoyed hearing about Eve? There’s a free 14-day trial going on now. We’d love to fly with you!

Thanks for a very fun interview–the phrase “Ya know?” has now been banned from my vocabulary! Ya know? ? Just kidding! Had a great time, hope you do more EVE stuff in future podcasts. The interview with Ian Chisholm was delightful…what a cool guy!

Come fly with me in-game sometime…get a taste of the Yarr!

This podcast was fantastic! I’m a relatively new player myself, and am already a huge fan of Clear Skies and the Eve Online universe. I’ve already sent the link to 6 friends, and we love your site! Keep up the good work, and Mynx, I’ll be lookin for ya in game as your blog has convinced me and my m8’s to go to the darkside.

    Fly dangerously everyone!

As for the comments about thinking people attitudes in real life might reflect their in game behavior, I completely thought the same thing myself. However, recently having been “popped” by some pirates in a rather hostile region, and now befriending them and being invited to fly with them has shown me that pirates seem to be much nicer than the big fleet commanders out in 0.0. HAHA!

Fly dangerously everyone! Yarrr! (Just trying it on…..I failed)

I enjoyed your podcast. It’s interesting listening to the relative newb’s take on EvE. It’s good to hear the enthusiasm for a very difficult game that I think a lot of people don’t really give a good chance to learn.

  5. Teister says:

heh, just noticed what Kidore had to say about 0.0…
I would say that if you want a real ‘Lord of the Flies’ experience, head out to 0.0. It’s definitely a completely different game…

  6. DocFloyd says:

And may I say that Audra has one of the most beautiful voices out there?

All the best to you all,
    DocFloyd

  7. Sololuna says:
