This week’s Star Wars arc feature: Empire. Highlights: We share additional “original” Star Wars experiences with callers, discuss stories without beginnings or endings, again talk “vintage” toys, wonder how bad tauntauns must smell (considering Han could still smell ’em in the cold), analyze Han’s decision to follow Leia (and what it means for his “scoundrel” ways), argue the morality of Lando’s “betrayal,” and look forward to Jedi next week. Reminder: Chuck and Sean will be at the NYC meetup tonight: Ashtons, 6pm at 208 E 50th St, Btwn 2nd & 3rd Ave (subway E,V,6 at 51st and Lexington).
Hi guys: LOVE the podcast..Please keep up the good work while we wait forever for BSG 4.5.
Anyway, Audra made a quick comment during this podcast that reminded me of something. She was referring to young Boba picking up Jengo’s helmet “with his head in it” and holding it against his own..If you look carefully and go frame by frame following Jengo’s decapitation, you will see the shadow of Jengo’s head falling out of the helmet just before the helmet itself comes to rest on the ground. It’s very very quick. Therefore, Boba is actually holding an EMPTY helmet.
I’m not picking on you, Audra. Obviously, it’s not that important. I just thought it interesting after a friend showed me on the DVD (2nd to last edition) and then you made that comment, so I had to share. Why would Lucas do such a thing? I can only assume he and his minions wanted to make that scene as “clean” as possible and put that shadow-work in as an out–so there were no stumpy, cauterized neck parts hanging out to gross out the kids. Still, he knows we’re all going to see Anakin’s burning carcass in Sith, so why go through the trouble?
And btw, yes, Greedo shooting first is THE WORST ADDITION to the special editions. I can’t stand it! FRAKers!
Thanks so much for taking the time to do the ‘cast. And please keep doing it until 09. I look forward to it every week.
All the best,
Jim
Nice catch, Jim. (No pun intended.)
“Still, he knows we’re all going to see Anakin’s burning carcass in Sith, so why go through the trouble?”
Sith was the only SW film to be rated higher than PG. Possibly he was trying to avoid making Attack PG-13?
The movie was so horrible they’d have done well to include some extra gore to make it almost worth watching…
Yoda in his prime versus a bo-staff wielding Darth Maul… who wins??????
“Yoda in his prime versus a bo-staff wielding Darth Maul… who wins?????? ”
Good one. Hmmm. I say Yoda….
He’d split Maul in half also……with his mind! Screw the lightsabers!
“With my mind in half split you I will…”
