GWC Podcast #92

This week we dive into the penultimate episode of our massive pre-season four re-watch. Highlights: we lament the many shows that died before their time, debate how long it takes to download Cylon(z), comment on Romo Lampkin’s incredible coolness — and note his cat’s name, Lance — love how quickly Adama and Roslin go from not caring about Lampkin to running scared, analyze Lampkin’s thefts, question Anders’ luck in flipping heads over and over. The Starbuck theories continue, and we take a moment to lament the loss of Arthur C. Clarke — and Chuck’s need (physical NEED) for Dark Horse Star Wars trade paperbacks. If you’re in the San Diego area today, don’t miss our meetup tonight. Check the forum at www.galacticawatercooler.com for details.

I assumed that Emily’s comment “Suck it Trabek” in podcast #92 was a reference to the great Saturday Night Live skit “Jeopardy” where Will Ferrell plays Alex Trebek and Darrell Hammond plays Sean Connery. Connery hates Trebek and belittles him every chance he gets. I believe “suck it Trebek” is a phrase he uses…..or you could be right and it could be from Kathy Griffin.

Keep up the great work! I just started listening to your podcast a couple of months ago (bought 1st Ipod in Jan) and am hooked.

I’ve got a fever and the only prescription is more GWC!

Can I offer the irony that I was on Vacation in San Diego last Friday!?! Of course, my schedule took me away before I could make it to the party. Cruel world!

Re. 2001, I didn’t think the book came out until after the movie was made. Wasn’t it based on the short story “The Sentinel”? Which, actually, I read shortly after it came out.

Just a small point of order. I only remember this because I thought the short story was so much more chilling than the book or movie.

Hey, somebody might have pointed this out but relative to the “how long does it take” for the Cylons to get to the center of the tootsie pop….I mean, to download and resurrect, Audra pointed out that Leoben came back while Starbuck was still sitting down.

However, and this is purely semantics, Leoben actually came back that evening. Starbuck was all fresh from her shower, nestled in a robe and sitting on the couch when he came home. His body was lying near the table and the apartment was dark.

Anyway, that really doesn’t matter but I just thought I’d mention it.

    I’m drunk on commenting.

That’s true – good catch. I thought it had been only a fraction of an hour, but it looks like you’re right – at least a few hours or so.
