GWC Re-Watch: Wargames

I know some of you will argue that this isn’t sci-fi. But you’re dead wrong. As Sean once argued (quite intelligently, effectively, and undeniably) to me, any movie that includes an intelligent computer is, well, totally sci-fi. And besides that, it’s an incredibly seminal flick. I earned most of my adult living based on the skills I picked up unofficially because of this movie. And I’ll bet more than a few of you can say the same.

Plus, Ally Sheedy is majorly hot in this — looking great in a way that women now only dream they could — without looking like a stick. Geeks like curves, man. Curves!

If for whatever reason you haven’t managed to see this movie yet. (Like, for example, you were born after the fall of the Soviet Union. We’re talking about you, Boxy!) You need to rent it RIGHT NOW. And if you saw it in the theater like I did (three times), grab a copy and refresh yourself. Why? Because you’re going to receive a DTA on it very soon, that’s why!

This was a great movie and It almost kept me from hacking BBS system from my 300 baud modem on my commodore 64 back then. I was afraid the government would come and get me so I did what Mathew did and got rid of all the phone numbers and printouts i had gathered for BBS systems that i tryed to hack. it was not long after that i obtained a program called War Dialer that did what his computer was doing. However i never reached the WHOOPER.

anyways its a good watch and I still like to watch that move from time to time.

I am not close to being a hacker or programer but really enjoyed the movie War Games. Like most science fiction (yes I do think it is) there was a great message. I owned one of first Apple computers that you did not have to build yourself so the movie also reminds me of how much technology has changed.

I thought that I would take a look back at War Games a bit on the internet. I did not know that the writers also wrote Sneakers. Sneakers is a fantastic movie.

Do you want to play a game?
