The Ultimate Sci-Fi Cat Bed

GWC listener Melissa in NY brought this to everyone's attention in the GWC Forum last week: Urka, a contributor on the Craftster forum, created this awesome Millenium Falcon cat bed for her cat Chewbacca (pictured). And yes, Chewbacca comes from a long line of sci-fi savvy cats. According to Urka, his mother was named TK421 and his siblings -- both white cats -- are TaunTaun and Wampa.

But the star of this show is the cat bed, sewn from grey fleece with detailing cut from a black T-shirt. It's stuffed with Polyfill, and there are snaps on the bottom so Urka can unstuff it and wash it to maintain a clean environment for her feline friends.

And as you can see from the photo, Chewy likes it. So do I!

What a fabulous idea! I’m going to get out some old fabric and create a Battlestar Galactica kitty bed – and maybe a Pegasus one for my crazy devil dog to tear apart….with a photo of Cain on the front, maybe Fisk too:)

Now that looks like one happy kitty! I don’t have any sewing skills, but I’m gonna figure out how to do this. Maybe a version of the Enterprise? 🙂

While I would LOVE to take credit for that, all props go to Melissa from NY who is not, well, me. And you all thought keeping the Six, Caprica Six and Gina straight was difficult. 🙂

  4. The Fair Melissa says:

Uh, her name is Melissa in NY, not Melissa from NY. Sorry, Melissa!

  5. Chuck says:

    Corrected! Sorry for the confusion.

A Chewie backpack? What is this? Soviet Russia?

  8. The Fair Melissa says:

they sell those Chewie backpacks at Disneyland – saw one on a kid and it cracked me up. They also have a Yoda backpack, for the kid who want to run through the jungle with a Jedi master on his back.
