Your Calls For Podcast #50

As I mentioned at the end of Podcast #49, we’re going to do something a little special with #50. But since I was tired — and maybe a bit incoherent — I thought I’d add this post to make things a bit more clear about exactly what we’re doing.

First of all, you’re going to get three GWC podcasts this weekend. You’re going to get one-each commentaries for each part of Kobol’s Last Gleaming. (In fact, we’re inagurating our new custom-built audio desk and much-more-organized technical setup with these podcasts. Woot!) These will be “Podcasts #51 and #52,” however.

Podcast #50 will be a “bonus” ‘cast targeted specifically at all of you hardcore GWC-ers — the ones who’ve made this so much fun that it’s become a part of our life, the ones who bust our chops (and educate us) when we drop the ball, the ones who’ve helped us through good times and bad. You know who you are.

We’re cooking up some other fun stuff, but for starters, we’ve got an audio “blooper reel.” Calling in will be much easier once you hear three full minutes of me frakking up the intro with full-on heckling from the crew.

But the most important part of #50 is you. You’re what makes this awesome, and we want to feature you. So if you have a minute, we’d like you to give us a call at+1 214 296 9229and tell us about how another GWC listener/reader helped you enjoy BSG more. Try to keep your call to around 30 seconds so we can include a lot of ’em.

For example, I’m going to spend my 30 seconds on LVogt, who recently inspired me to delve a lot deeper into the whole Hadrian/”Witch Hunt” situation than ever before. If it wasn’t for reading LVogt’s comment, I’d probably have glossed over it, and I’d have missed out big time. I’m willing to bet that most of you have had a similar experience — so let us hear about it!

And in case we haven’t said so recently, thanks so much for making GWC a joy.

  3. Dave says:

  4. fuzzyelf says:

    No, thank you!!!

  5. Armando says:

Oh man-I better get cracking. I’ve been out of town over the weekend so I’ve yet to download the podcast, now I’ve got to call in and comment.

One of these days I’ll finally get around to doing the title of the episode that shall not be named as a canon. Hmmm…

  6. Mike P says:

I second what fuzzelf said, the thanks are all due to you guys. This site and podcast are a real treat. Muchas gracias!

  7. The 13th Cylon says:

Oh boy! I cannot wait for the “follies”*!

*I think everyone has at least a few old VHS tapes of “Sports Follies” or some craap like that in their house. I do, and I don’t even have a VCR. lol

  8. gafra says:

I just wanna thank you guys for an excellent podcast series. I came into it fairly late but I think you have exactly the right mix of humour and in-depth analysis: without taking yourselves too seriously!

  9. Browncoat_Bryan says:

I’ll add on to what everyone is saying here. You guys are the greatest!!! ALL of you, EVERYONE!!! From the crew to all of the posters, have made BSG a memorable experience.

Sean, Chuck and Audra, I want to thank you all for what you’ve done. Not only have you created a kick-ass podcast, you have created a community or maybe even an extended family.

  10. Yorick says:

I won’t be adding anything really original here, but I just wanted to thank you Audra, Chuck and Sean. I never would have thought I could find a podcast as thought-provoking AND fun at the same time. I made quite a few people working here at Nasa addicted to your podcast 🙂 Can’t wait for GWC Podcast #100…

  11. Armando says:

Me, I hate your podcast. I just listen and continually post waiting for you to make complete fools of yourselves. 😉

I’m just kidding, of course. You guys rock. It’s like hanging out with three friends who are as geeky as I am and then coming on the blog and finding that there’s a whole TON of such friends just waiting to totally geek out.

Great job on a great year! Congratulations.

  12. Timbuck says:

Props to my favorite podcast! Since #50 is multi-part, will it be available on DVD 2 days after it’s broadcast?

You guys HAVE to keep doing podcasts way after Season 4. Maybe a sci-fi or movie theme. Movies would be great because I’m kind of a junkie.

We could always re-watch the re-watch…

  13. Nick B says:

I’ll second all the (entirely justified) brown-nosing going on here, although I have to complain about the amount of time I’m spending posting long tracts on the forums when I should be working – all your fault of course! (As a Baltar fan I like to blame others for my weaknesses ;-))

I definitely think you guys should do something after the end of Season 4. Maybe just pick your favourite sci-fi (and/or other) books, movies, series and give them the GWC treatment. Perhaps you could target works that explore the realities of today’s world through speculative fiction….

Looking forward to the forthcoming glut of podcasting, on which I shall gorge myself until I’m sick….

Cheers, and thanks for all the hard work!

  14. Boxytheboxed says:

YES i get to do bad impressions of you and the actors WOOT im calling in i know your horrified 🙂

  15. Stroogie says:

I don’t think I’d have a hope of surviving the hiatus if I hadn’t found GWC and all the good folks here. The friends I converted to BSG are mainly in it for the girls and the Vipers (not bad reasons, mind you), so we don’t get to really dig deep when we talk about it. Listening to Chuck, Audra, and Sean is such an entertaining joy, but thought-provoking too. Same goes for all the great posters out there. It’s especially fun when a post or a phone call I make gets picked up and taken in different directions that I had even thought of. My brain gets food for thought for days.

BSG used to be a solitary pleasure for me, but now with the GWC, it’s like I’m hanging out with all my friends at the lunch table in high school to talk about last night’s Deep Space Nine episode. Except that we’re all more grown up and cultured now.

    We are, right?

  16. BoxytheBoxed says:

i just finished writing my call
    be warned 🙂

  17. Armando says:

I think that a post-season 4 GWC podcast should be all about avant garde art, especially red paintings with bottle caps stuck in the middle.

And Nick, I so feel your pain about posting on here when you should be working. I do that entirely too much too.

  18. Audra says:

Wow, thanks for all the support! It makes our week, every week we do this, to have this great community.

Yorick – People at NASA listen to us? How cool is that?! And congrats on the latest successful mission to the International Space Station! If you get a chance, maybe you could suggest a Battlestar design for an upcoming project…

  19. Armando says:

I think that’s the North American Saxophone Association. 😉

(Just kidding, of course, although there is such an organization and its accronym is very confusing.)
