Here’s the new weekly presidental approval poll. Remember — even if you voted last week, you’ll want to vote again on this poll as this is a weekly feature and the results will vary from week to week. Let your opinion be heard (for free)!
Remember: This approval poll applies to the current GWC re-watch schedule, which means you should be voting for your feelings circa Episode 101: “33.”
Do you approve or disapprove of the way Laura Roslin is handling her job as president?
TotalVotes: 194
Note: This poll is closed, but you can vote in the current poll.
Who is voting ‘disapprove’ at this point in the series?
yah pretty hard to find fault with her this early on.
Absolutely approve. Roslin was an amazing President the first two seasons. Her bad behavior really didn’t start until after New Caprica. It proves just how much she blames herself for what happened on that planet.
Probably the people voting disapproval don’t realize that we’re supposed to forget everything after 33 right now. So far Roslin’s been flawless. Later on I have problems with her (for me, even earlier than Chuck does). I was anti-Roslin even before season 2.
Alright, I’m going to be serious on this one. I think she did a really good job. As she says later (Hand of God?), you hate to think about it as a numbers game, but they can’t risk 50,000 lives for 1,300 that may or may not be enemy agents. That and the fact that they gave the captain of the ship plenty of warnings even before he decided to go ludicrous speed towards the fleet.
Is it just me, or does Roslin seem to get a little hasty and more questionable after her cancer was cured back in Season 2. I wonder how the return of the cancer will affect her. Might we see a return to rational Roslin? Oh damn you 9 months!
I voted “approve” because, for the past five days, the fleet has been in a severe military crisis, and Roslin has deferred the necessary military and security decisions to Adama.
Do we know, in the Colonial structure, if the President is the commander-in-chief of the military? I would assume so, but I don’t remember if it has ever been explicitly stated, or if Roslin has ever tried to “pull rank” on Adama — I am sure I am just forgetting instances where she has. Also, I guess the conversation about dividing up the decisions in the penultimate scene of the miniseries only makes sense if, usually, the President calls the shots.
Eyeless speculates (and reasonably so): “Probably the people voting disapproval don’t realize that we’re supposed to forget everything after 33 right now.”
Okay, disapprovers — care to explain yourselves? 🙂
