Here’s the poll for selecting the season three episodes for off-season GWC commentary tracks.
This works just like the season one poll and season two poll (which you should vote in if you haven’t already): vote for the episode for which you’d most like to hear a GWC commentary below. We’ll leave the poll active for a while, then plan on recording commentary for the top two episodes.
Note: We’ll have add’l podcasts to cover the organized “re-watch.” These will be separate commentaries timed to the episode so you can watch along with us.
That’s a toughie! It’s a race for second. Bring it on home Exodus Pt II! We get Saul killing Ellen, Galactica dropping from the sky, Pegasus getting destroyed, and everyone rescued from that mudhole of NC.
GAH!
I’m having a hard time choosing between The Passage and The Woman King.
Why? Because I think both of these eps got an unfair shake by the fan community, and they need to be forced to watch them again. =P
Exodus Part II got my vote. I think that and 33 are the best two hours of sci fi ever made.
See, that’s why I’m having a hard time choosing my vote.
Everyone’s gonna vote for Ex pt.2, so there is the chance, however slim, that my SINGLE vote might choose which is the second episode. Otherwise we’d have a 19-way tie.
*snicker*
Yeah, tough call guys. I chose Crossroads 2. You know we’re not gonna stop talking about it until Next January anyway. My second choice would have been Dirty Hands. That got the same bad rap as Passage and Woman King. They flow a lot better the second watch.
Athenor, good call. That was my rationale for not choosing 33 for the first season.
OTOH, Great Balls of Galactica-Engullfing Fire! Whatever angst-inducing moment they’re about to give us (and you just know it’s coming) we’re going to be carrying that with us anyway. We have to remember the “Greatest Visual Effect in Television History!”
Yeah, I was on the fence with this one too, but I’ve gotta give it to Exodus Pt. 2. Definitely some badass stuff.
The Passage, in Honor of my beloved KAT. Heres hoping we see her again somehow!!!! She went out like a hero!!!!
Frank, it’s time to let her go. She was cool, but her death, however quickly led up to, had significance as a death. Kara’s didn’t. I feel your pain, man, as I think Kat is/was a kickass character.. but… *comforts*
Crossroads, pt. 2 will obviously be jam-packed full of revelations, brilliant character moments and other Watercoolable material. My vote.
But the two current leaders are awesome as well.
I think that you all should hold this vote open until after Crossroads, Part 2. If what I think happens, happens… believe me, there will be a LOT of heat generated. However, since the plan is to do two podcasts based on the season finale, then maybe Crossroads, Part 2 will not need to be commmented upon. Since that’s the case, I’m with most of the voters… gimme commentary on Exodus, Pt. 2.
“Well, this is going to be interesting…”
It’s gotta be Maelstrom for second place, if we’re going for the special effects vote, I think we’ve got the two best episodes in the lead. I’m tempted to vote for the finale or at least wait until I see it because I know it’s going to be amazing, but as we’re going to get material on the finale anyway, I think it’s time to go back and see just a little more Starbuck.
I’m also surprised there weren’t many votes for Occupation/Precipice. Counting both as one episode, I thought there would be more votes just for the extra length.
Hrmm, I’m not sure if there would be time to do this in the hiatus, but I’d really like to see a live commentary like this done for the mini. I was just rewatching it this morning; taking another look at it in retrospect after seeing 3 (almost) seasons of the series, it gives you totally different perspective on it. Seeing really early suggestions of more recent developments, questions raised that they’ve yet to answer and concepts that have been outright abandoned (yes, there are some other than Boxey!).
Admittedly, the season three poll might not be the best place to bring this up, but I just thought of it as I voted. Anyone else think it would be interesting to hear?
John P. that’s a great idea! I would love to hear a podcast dedicated to the mini-series. So say we all!
I voted for Ex P2 but that was a knee-jerk reaction because I knew episodes like “The Woman King,” “The Passage” and “A Day in The Life” don’t stand a chance even though I personally loved each of those epsisodes. If given a second chance I think I would have voted for The Woman King only to have Audra refer to her “Helo-meter” again.
I didn’t vote for Crossroads P.2 because according to the podcast schedule the Trinity has scheduled for us, we have a podcast that will do a wrap up and a listener episode following the wrap up. I suspect that a lot of the discussion will be centered around the events leading up to the end of the season.
Exodus P.2 is not a bad choice, I agree, it’s one of the best hours of Sci Fi — shoot, one of the best hours of TV ever.
Commentary on The Falling Galactica!!! How can one go wrong?
Yeah, Galactica isn’t perfect, but when it has its good moments, like the past two season finales and Exodus Pt 2, it is quite literally the best thing on TV. Except for perhaps the Firefly episode “Out of Gas,” which IMO is the greatest TV episode ever.
Clearly Ex II is gonna win but as much as I loved that episode kinda wish it wouldn’t. It’s been pretty established that that was one of the most mind-blowing hours of TV ever so I kinda wish we could talk about Occupice. I think so much of what happened there is the reason why season 3 occurred the way it did. Starbuck crazier than usual? Goes back to Occupice. Tigh’s a nutcase? Occupice.
With the excellent points made on the podcast about Anders and Tigh having the link to the detention center, I think it’s totally worth exploring that angle.
I chose Ex II to hear more about the OTHER things that happened in that episode BESIDES the “Greatest Visual Effect in Television History,†as Pike put it (and I am almost convinced).
Eyeless: I also agree that Firefly “Out of Gas” is in the top 5 Sci-Fi series episodes.
I ALSO would love to hear a podcast on the mini-series. “So say we all! ”
From the centerpiece of “Tigh me up, Tigh me down” comes the quote: “Shackle that thing!” (me thinks *someone* has a bondage fetish!)
Gray: “Occupice”? Sounds like a James Bond movie…
…and you’re TOTALLY wrong about Tory – she *is* a tasty vittle. Anders has every right to be tempted. The fact that she is a hottie is what led me to posit that she was a Cylon back on the Podcast 31 post.
It has always been kicked about in the GWC Trinity/community that Cylon women are hot and the men…. well, not so much. But if Anders is a reveal, well then he must be an exception to the rule (Tigh, of course abso-frakin-lutely conforming to it).
Hey, great idea Writch! I’m signing the mini-series petition. How could I forget that? The miniseries is still my favorite part of Galactica. >_
Eyeless: The Miniseries podcast was originally Joe’s proffer (a few posts above mine).
So, GWC Trinity (Chuck, Audra, Sean), how about it? A podcast on the show that started us on this mad-cap, topsy-turvy adventure?
Oh, and my bad…. someone just informed me that the ‘e’ at the end of “Occupice” is silent. O_o
i like the episode where adama and the president smoke ome stuff “that grows in the hills around here” what episode was that?
also…

Writch-
The tail part of my comment got deleted and I didn’t have time to correct it. Tory has definitely looked better. But personally, if I were the widower Thrace, I’d go after Racetrack or try to find me a Six of my own.
And yeah, if Tigh turned out Cylon it would certainly serve to reinforce the theory.
I’m definitely on board with the idea of a miniseries commentary. I rewatched it a month or so ago and I love to be reminded of the fact that I was hooked within the first 10 minutes, which is my record. Getting hooked on 24 took 4 episodes, Heroes took 3, Firefly took about half an episode, but I knew I was going to stick with Galactica right from the start.
Writch, it was actually John P.’s idea. I’m still all for it! It’s time I got out and bought the DVD’s for the mini and season 1, just for the extra commentary.
I voted for Unfinished Business, since I figured Exodus II would take the number one spot. I thought it was a really beautiful episode.
A podcast on the mini sounds great! I feel we’re going to learn something that is going to change how we’ve viewed the entire show so far-and I definitely will want to watch from the beginning (again!)
Podcast on the mini is a great idea. It would be interesting to reflect on it and how the characters have evolved since.
As for me Exodus 2 was my favorite episode, difficult to imagine how they could possibly ever top that. I really like the finale last year, thought the idea of New Caprica was great.
Can they outdo themselves this time around?
Not related, but in case you do not yet know, looks like there will be 22 episodes next season, up from the 13 mentioned earlier this year. Also there will be a straight to video movie shown later this year on Scifi about the Pegasus right after the Cylon attack.
Great news!
P.S. sorry if a double post, something went wrong earlier

Hope this works, having problems posting comments somehow…
🙂
This truly sucks. Unless Ron Moore can change his ways, there’s no way he’s getting through a 22-episode season without at least 5 more Black Markets/Days in the Life/Woman Kings. I know some of you like those, but I think the 13-eppy season 1 format was the best by a mile.
Hey, yeah!!! Podcast commentary on the BSG Miniseries. I’d love to hear that, too.
Eyeless… I agree with you, the 13 episode format is pretty good and forces the writers to be on their toes. BUT, the bad side to this is the fact that we would have to wait a LONG time before the new season.
And for you Firefly fans out there… “Out of Gas” is on my Top 5 also. BSG has managed to squeak out four of the five.
Just to add to the off-topic digression:
Out of Gas is a true masterpiece.
Is everyone here forgetting “Objects In Space?”
No? OK, just checking.
