Outro Music/Podcast #32: “Here In CIC”

The good news: Audra seems interested in doing some more of these during the off-season, so with any luck — and your encouragement — she’ll come up with some other good ideas for ’em. Of course, if you’d like to share some of yours, feel free!

  2. Joe says:

Did you guys check out the new contest on the official website?
Seems like something you’d be interested in. Plus, after hearing your outro, I’d love to see what you do with a video!

Audra: love the outro! Hearing it reminded me of something I scribbled awhile ago, but never got around to posting. I have no musical talent, but the song “Waterloo” by ABBA happened to be on the radio one day after I got through listening to the podcast and one thought led to another… I have to be honest: I would love to hear it by someone with musical talent, but I humbly offer it to stir creativity, if nothing else.

    “You cannot play god,
then wash your hands of the things that you’ve created.
Sooner or later the day comes
when you cannot hide from the things that you’ve done.”

    Galactica Retirement Speech, Commander Adama

    Caprica’s Waterloo

My my, on Caprica Adar did surrender
Oh yeah, for humanity met destiny; their children returned that day
The holy book on the shelf
    Had started repeating itself

Caprica – humanity’s children won the war
Caprica – Cylons will seek you for ever more
Caprica – try to escape if you want to
Caprica – know that their fate is to be with you
Caprica – you’ll have to face them, Caprica

My my, Adama held them back but they were stronger
Oh yeah, Rosalyn said the only chance was giving up the fight
And how could he ever refuse
    humanity’s fate was to lose.

Caprica – humanity’s children won the war
Caprica – Cylons will seek you for ever more
Caprica – try to escape if you want to
Caprica – know that their fate is to be with you

And how could he ever refuse
    humanity’s fate was to lose.

Caprica – humanity’s children won the war
Caprica – Cylon will seek you for ever more
Caprica – try to escape if you want to
Caprica – know that their fate is to be with you
Caprica – you’ll have to face them Caprica

  4. The 13th Cylon says:

Ha ha! This is great stuff. I can just imagine the entire crew in CIC singing and swaying to that song. lol

  5. The 13th Cylon says:

Also, Bill would totally have the Adama family lighter out for that one.

  6. Pike says:

    LOL, good one Dewey.

Audra, I should also mention that I thoroughly enjoyed your version, even though I’ve never heard the original.

  7. Lt. Slingshot says:

Audra thanks for sharing! I sent this to about 20 people today most of whom had never listened to the cast and the unanimous feedback is its a smash hit!

  8. Audra says:

Oh, my. 20 more people hearing my voice! Send them my apologies. 🙂

    And great idea, Dewey!

Glad you all enjoy the song! We’re working on a few more tunes for the ‘cast – and next time I’ll choose something in my vocal range, hehe.

  9. Matt says:

    Audra,

Loved the song!!!! I personally think it is better then original version!!!! Now that the single is out though when can we expect the album lol. The musical lyrics of Audra will help us get though the months of battlestar withdraw we are all about to experience.

  10. Ian says:

    Audra,
I think you’ve got the best female voice on radio/podcast ever. Not in a creepy way…Just a compliment.

I think you should just discuss some of the theories that people submit. Go though some of the episodes and try to connect the dots a little more. I think all of you are great. I love the living room discussion setting.

    “dance with who brung ya.”

I love the wit. Big fan…keep it coming!

  11. Matt says:

    Here is a song idea.

The song of the resistance on New Caprica, it is a work in progress but this is what I got so far.

    Holding Out For a Viper

Where have all the good jocks gone
And where are all the gods?
    Where’s the street-wise Apollo
    To fight the rising odds?
Isn’t there a white knight upon a fiery steed?
Late at night toss and turn and dream of what I need

    I need a viper
I’m holding out for a viper til the end of the night
    It’s gotta be strong
    And It’s gotta be fast
And It’s gotta be fresh from the fight
    I need a viper
I’m holding out for a viper til the morning light
    Its gotta be armed
    And its gotta be soon
And its gotta be faster than light

    Somewhere after midnight
    In my wildest fantasy
    Somewhere just beyond my reach
There’s someone shooting back at me
Racing on thunder and rising with the heat
Its gonna take a viper jock to sweep me off my feet

    I need a viper
I’m holding out for a viper til the end of the night
    It’s gotta be strong
    And It’s gotta be fast
And It’s gotta be fresh from the fight
    I need a viper
I’m holding out for a viper til the morning light
    Its gotta be armed
    And its gotta be soon
And its gotta be faster than light

  13. Zigdon says:

Audra, I thought it was perfectly in your range! I’m only bummed there weren’t more verses!

Btw, guys, I’m pretty sure I mentioned this before, but thanks again for the ‘Cast! It certainly helps pass the week waiting for the next fix… Even if the volume of comments is a little bit higher than I can keep up with 🙂

  14. Chelly says:

Audra, I thought it was awesome. You did a great job. I think you need to finish the song out though. I would have loved to hear more of it. Rock on to you!!! I don’t think I have the guts to sing on air.

  15. Jaz says:

Audra – your lyrics and singing were awesome! More please !!!

  16. ToasterChick says:

I have not been able to get the song out of my head this whole week! (it’s a good thing, really!)

  17. perry ostrin says:

i’d love to hear a slow jam with ‘craaaaaaaaaap” in the title!

  18. Ray says:

I’m so tempted to edit together some clips of the show to go with the music, but I fear I’d turn into one of those people who puts up loads of compilations on youtube about their favourite couple. Hmm…

  19. Maddie Centurian says:

I think this Pink song would be a good pick, and it would be in your range. Just throw me a little credit that I parodied it, ok?

DON’T LET ME GET ME (Pink)

    Never win first place
    Don’t support C.A.P
Can’t follow orders and my thoughts are never clean
    Been stalked by Leoben
    Dad broke my hands
I am always in a fight cause I can’t do nothing right

Every day I fight a war against the mirror; can’t take the pilot staring back at me

    I’m a hazard to myself
    Dont let me get me
    Im my own worst enemy
Its bad when you annoy yourself
    So irritating
Dont wanna be my friend no more
    I wanna be somebody else

I wanna be somebody else, yeah

War college told me, youll get quite far,
All you have to change is everything you are.
Tired of being compared to damn Apollo
He’s no frak up, that ain’t Starbuck

Cottle, Cottle wont you please prescribe me somethin
A day in the life of someone else?

Cause I’m a hazard to myself
    Dont let me get me
    I’m my own worst enemy
Its bad when you annoy yourself
    So irritating
Dont wanna be my friend no more
    I wanna be somebody else

  20. Maddie Centurian says:

And is there anyway I can transfer this to iTunes? I don’t have quicktime.

  21. Audra says:

Wow – thanks everyone for the great ideas (and the compliments)!

Matt and Perry Ostrin – both great ideas that have planted in my brain and are currently germinating.

Maddie, great re-write! Pink is great. She even looks and acts a little like Starbuck.

Anyone who comes up with an idea that we use in any way will get credit! Thanks again all!

  22. Lisa says:

I just started listening to your podcasts at work. (Heard Howard Stern mention your web site). I laughed so hard and thouroughly enjoyed it!

Keep the cleverness coming. You have my vote for idol.

  23. Schism says:

Funny story. I just took a gambling trip to Tunica, Mississippi.
Was sitting in the Grand Casino playing some pai gow poker, and on their stereo system I hear “Suddenly I See” starts playing, so of course I’m substituting Audra’s lyrics in my head.
But here’s the capper. The next day we head over to the Horseshoe Casino and they have a live band playing. The third song they played was “Suddenly I See” and the singer sounded a lot like Audra. LOL
