GWC Podcast #9

We’ve been receiving so many great comments via email, the blog, and the phone that we decided to sit down for an interim “comment-only” ‘cast.  Highlights: lessons learned from the “Cylon caucus” in Colonial One, the Cylon’s exponentially-rapid cultural development, and back-glowing orgasms as fiber-op transcievers (don’t ask).  If this is your first visit to GWC, be sure and check out our last full podcast, #8.

I won’t get a chance to listen to this until tomorrow, but I just rewatched the first two hours and have a few observations.

First, how cool is the bathroom in Starbuck’s cage? Apparently, if the door is closed, the lights come on. If it’s open, they go off. What a fantastic idea. (Hell, if you’re going to discuss chairs…)

Second, there seem to be two possible ‘outs’ for the mass execution. Boomer is very reluctant to see Cally killed (ironic as that is.) She might have engineered a rescue. Also, Gaeta was very agitated about the trucks leaving. Tyrol wasn’t at the rendevouz with the Galactica party. Could it be that Gaeta succeeded in getting a message to the Chief?

Third, Hera/Isis seems to be developing normally. Does this indicate that Cally (sp?) is not what she is represented as being?

Fourth, a fair portion of the rendevouz group is killed. Is this going to cast suspicion upon the Cylon liason?

Just listened to the ep and had a theory.

At the begining of Occupation we see Kara with the fork and she seems to check it’s sharpness. My theory is what if some previous time she killed Leoben with it and was wondering how sharp it was. Just a theory.

    Fun podcast.

On why Leoben was not present on Colonial One, I think it was done for dramatic effect. He’s trying to convince Kara to love him, and, creepy as that is, it would have been undermined (for the viewers) if he’s also involved in the discussion of just how many humans they need to kill.

In an earlier podcast (no idea which–I went through all of them in a few days), one of the guys mentioned that Kara and Anders have the same tattoo. There’s a good picture at BSWiki that shows how they work with each other: http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Tattoo

Speaking of Leoben and BSW, you guys will probably appreciate the entry on flashlights: http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Flashlight

On the subject of Kara, I’ve got two words – “Stockholm Syndrome.”

    Run with it, guys…
