GWC Podcast #8

We just watched the premiere, and though it answered a lot of questions, it generated many, many more.  Highlights: Questioning whether the individual “models” of Cylon are interconnected (and if Sharon could  “pass” with a flesh Cylon), wondering what’ll happen when Sharon finds out that her baby’s alive, lots of speculation on Baltar’s future, and lamenting having ever heard of the “twist.”  We’re joined by our friend and guest, Tony Daniel.

I’ve been listening to your podcasts while catching up on seasons 2.0 and 2.5 on dvd. I really enjoy the discussions. Keep up the great work!

On the subject of the visions that Gaius and Six are having of one another you discussed in this latest cast:

What if when Six downloaded after the nuclear blast that destroyed Baltar’s house, she left a piece of herself (her wetware) in Gaius, and in turn took a piece of him in an even exchange. The best metaphor I can think of this would be two computers on a wireless network. One broadcasts through the other and leaves/takes data. Since the Cylon are virtually identical to humans, then any consciousness the Cylon have could be functional in our brain (i.e., Windows running on an HP or Dell PC). Since we aleggedly only use 10% of our brains (well, maybe 20% for Dr. Baltar), then Six should have plenty of room to run her wetware virus in his mind.

    Just a theory…

Chip, we’ve been speculating a lot as well as to what exactly happened in that moment. I find it hard to believe that simply being under Six’s body during the attack would allow Baltar to survive a nuclear explosion with just a scratch on his face. Chuck pointed out the explosion was somewhat far off, but it still looked like a wave that quickly demolished Gaius’ house.

Chuck also mentioned that it’s funny that Gaius Baltar literally lived in a glass house. Looks like the Cylons threw the first stone.

  5. Pike says:

At the distance from the blast that they were, the chief immediate danger would be the blast wave and debris (that was the point of the much-mocked ‘duck and cover’ drills of the fifties.) Since Six was shielding his body with hers, it does make sense that she died and he survived.

Curiously, it seemed to take a long time for the Cylons to get around to resurrecting Caprica Six, even though she was considered a war hero. Were they aware of, and concerned about, her personal involvement with Gaius from the beginning?
