Will the Phoenix rise again?

In the episode “Flight of the Phoenix” Chief Tyrol gets the creative itch to build a ship. I consider it to be one of the best episodes of the entire canon. There are a bunch more action packed and a few more sexy episodes, but this one of the character building stories for the Chief. He gets in hot water enough with the whole Sharon thing.

However in this episode we see how the Chief is a master of what he does, scrounging. His efforts inspire the people around him to create something entirely new from spares and leftovers. Even Tigh gets in on the action. Which, off subject, I find it extremely funny that it’s Tigh and the Chief are heading up the resistance on the planet.

Everyone comes together in this one to create and present the Blackbird or “Laura” to the president. Heartfelt and pure the Blackbird flies its way through a few episodes and is promptly trashed. It’s a sad thing to be sure. My question is, will the chief ever be in a position to build another, and will he ever do so after all that time or is the Phoenix which arose from so many of the fleets ashes destined to simply scatter its wreckage to the solar winds?

I’m totally a fan of this ep also. I happened to have watched it again recently and it grabbed me just as firmly as it did the first time.

Do you think they’ll build another one? Or many of them?

I’m going to go on record as predicting that they never touch the thing again. Sad because I love the Blackbird, but they don’t look back much in this show.
