It turns out Purefold isn’t the only sci-fi project coming down the pipe for famed director/producer Ridley Scott. Late last night, Variety confirmed that the original Alien helmer will direct the upcoming Alien prequel. If we didn’t know better, we’d think this had been timed to perfectly coincide with our crüe’s Alien arc!
The formal part of the birthday party had finished. Most of the boys went home; only a few of us stayed for the sleepover. We ate our hot dogs, drank our soda, and sat down to watch a movie on the VHS.
“What are we watching?” I asked
“Some movie called Tron” the host replied.
…and I was never quite the same again.

Blizzard is teaming up with Legendary Pictures and Sam Raimi to produce a movie based on World of Warcraft. Raimi, known for the Spider-Man trilogy as well as the cult classic The Evil Dead, will direct. Charles Roven — director of last-summer’s blockbuster The Dark Knight – will produce.
“At its core, Warcraft is a fantastic, action-packed story, ” Raimi said. “I am thrilled to work with such a dynamite production team to bring this project to the big screen.” Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull agrees: “Sam’s passion for ‘Warcraft’ is undeniable and we know that he will create an incredible film worthy of Blizzard’s phenomenal franchise. We look forward to collaborating with our partners at Warner Bros. and continuing our successful relationship with Chuck in bringing this rich new world to the screen.”

Finally, here’s the only man who can hold his own in the wake of the Ironman panel and the reason the hub looks forward to Saturday: Kevin Smith. He has nothing to promote right now, so his was just a straight Q&A that had us falling out of our seats! The man is gracious, kind, and will rip you to shreds if you need it!
Some wanted him to trash on Twilight, but he wasn’t having it; his wife and daughter are both into it, and when a fan offered him a killer-looking bag his wife made for friends, Kevin invited the man to sit on stage with him for the duration — and mugged for pix for the guy’s wife!
No matter how many tangents — and there were many — Kevin always brought it back around to answer or discuss the original question! Witty, profane, gracious and kind.
I’m out of adjectives.
These pictures show only a tiny bit of the Con. Wish everyone could be here!
This was easily one of the biggest, baddest panels of the day! It’s Ironman 2, with Jon Favreau and Robert Downey, Jr. — who totally owned the room, by the way. Read on for more Iron Man pix!

Dark Horse announced at the San Diego Comic Con that they’re teaming up with the lovely Felicia Day to create a three part comic mini-series based on hit web-video franchise The Guild. It seems Dark Horse’s Scott Allie is a fan, too: “Felicia’s amazing, and her writing will translate smoothly into comics. This’ll make a great companion to our line of comics. It’ll fit great alongside our webcomics and our Whedon books. And I’m really looking forward to working with her to get into some areas the show simply can’t because of budgetary reasons,” he said. Read on for more details.
Even though I’m not at Comic Con this year — thanks so much to the Bkitty and the other GWC crew for keeping us up on the hotness! — that hasn’t stopped me from running into some sweet stuff.
I’ll admit I have a bit of a crush on Megan Fox. Ok, I’m slightly obsessed and seeking help. But the point is she may actually be a little bad for your health. Case in point: Jennifer’s Body.
Live From SDCC: Panels, Panels, Panels!

You might recognize these guys. I snapped this right as Joseph Adama grabbed his “baby boy” crooning, “My son, my son!” Read on for more fun panel moments from Friday.

Behold, the newest Tron Legacy trailer. Special thanks to David Heames, who tweeted this just a few minutes ago!
A few notes: Pay special attention to “young Flynn,” who appears in the yellow/black racing suit. And I love the darker tone. Bring it!

Bioware is teaming up with Dark Horse Comics to give you a much-needed Mass Effect fix: a four-episode comic book arc titled Mass Effect: Redemption. The arc will span the time between the end of Mass Effect and the beginning of the upcoming Mass Effect 2 and explains the disappearance of Shepard and his fight to survive.
“Fans of Mass Effect are going to be pleasantly shocked by the events in these comics,” says ME lead writer Mac Walters. “We worked very closely with Dark Horse to make sure this story was built into the Mass Effect 2 arc right from the ground up. Reading the series won’t just add to your experience of the universe, it will change the way you look at Mass Effect 2… and beyond.”

Felicia Day’s homegrown (and totally awesome) internet series The Guild recently wrapped filming on its third season, due to release later this summer. Production funds initially came solely from friends and fans and, of course, Ms. Day’s own pocket. But in their best move since releasing Win2k and merging with Nextel, respectively, Microsoft and Sprint now sponsor the show — with the caveat that creative control still rests firmly in the hands of Felicia and her evil minions.

I love virals. Not the type where you feel like crap for a few days, lay in bed, drink fluids, and watch Oprah and reruns of Andy Griffith. I mean the viral videos that leak out before a movie release — the kind that makes a movie you kinda want to see into a movie you really want to see.
Or in this case, a movie you really want to see into a movie that you’re ready to storm the theaters to see. Virals can also give you a great back-story without giving away plot. Read on to see my most recent favorites from District 9 and TR2N!
