Like to meet some of your fellow GWCers and hang with Sean and Chuck from GWC? We’ll be at the Tikka Masala restaurant on Haight St. in San Francisco from 7:30 p.m. until around 9 p.m. (PT, of course) tonight shooting the BSG bull. We understand that the restaurant is BYOB — and the food’s said to be great. Hope to see you there!
For more information (to see who’s coming, etc.) check out this thread in the GWC forum.

Like to meet some of your fellow GWCers and hang with the GWC crew? In the Dallas area or near enough to drive? We’ll be at the Irish Rover pub in Frisco, TX at 8 p.m. CT tomorrow night, kickin’ back, havin’ a few brews, and talkin’ all things Galactica. And science fiction. And fantasy. And comics. You get the idea.
For more information, check out this thread in the GWC forum.

As if you don’t have enough crazy plans for tonight’s momentous launch of season four, your friends at GWC have a few more options for you:
First, we’re hosting online frak parties in the GWC forum for all real-time viewing options:
- If you want to party during the SciFi streaming broadcast at noon ET today, click here.
- If you want to party during the 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. CT broadcast, click here.
- If you want to party during the 10 p.m. PT delayed broadcast, click here.
And at 11:45 p.m. ET/10:45 p.m. CT we’re delivering GWC Podcast #94 LIVE via TalkShoe.com.
- To listen via real-time streaming, visit this page at TalkShoe.com.
- To listen remotely if you’re away from your computer — like, say, at work — you can dial into the call at (724) 444-7444. Enter call ID 17428 when requested.
- Better yet, you can even interact in real-time with the GWC crew, just like calling a radio show! if you sign up for a TalkShoe.com account (free) you’ll receive a PIN. By entering the PIN when requested after you dial the number above, you’ll show up in our call panel by name (or handle, or whatever you select in the signup) — and we’ll be able to take your call later in the show.
- Note: All callers will initially enter the call muted. When we take your call, you’ll hear us announce you, then your phone will say “you’ve been un-muted” and you’re ready to talk.
- GWCers outside the US can participate, too! If you have a USB microphone, you can configure TalkShoe.com’s ShoePhone and connect via VoIP. And, of course, you can listen to the live stream. Visit TalkShoe.com for details.
We’re really excited today, both about the premiere and about the opportunity to interact with our favorite BSG friends. It’s gonna be a great time!
Update: The streaming live episode just ended, with one non-spoiler reveal — SciFi will apparently stream future episodes early at noon on Fridays, too. Nice!
If you’re in the Philadelphia area — or pretty much anywhere in the northeast as there seem to be people coming from NYC and elsewhere — you might want to join up with the GWC Philly Crue for their meetup today.
Be sure to check out this thread in the forum for last-minute updates, but as of right now the plan seems to be to meet at:
The Brunswick Zone XL
100 E Street Rd
Feasterville Trevose, PA 19053-7604
…at 1 p.m. (ET, of course). We hear there’s food there, and a bar with big screen TVs as well as a number of restaurants within a short drive.
Enjoy!
Philly Crue Meetup [GWC Forum]

If you’re a Halo 3 player looking for some multi-player action, come join other GWCers tonight for a frakkin’ frag fest on XBox Live. It’s an informal meetup, so you don’t need to dress up — or make any special plans. Just look for any of your GWC friends and invite them into your game or join theirs. You’ll find gamertags listed in the posts and profiles on GWC’s Forum.
Officially the fragging runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. tonight, but feel free to come and go as you’re able and the mood strikes you. See you online!
For those of you lucky enough to live in the great northeast, GWC’s very own Philly Crue has set a date for their next meetup: October 21st. They’re working out the details as to the activities in which they plan to partake, so if you have ideas be sure to jump in.
Check out the forum thread for additional information, and don’t forget to keep an eye on the new GWC official calendar for up-to-the-minute meetup and re-watch information.
The GWC Calendar [GWCÂ Forum]
Hey all, several people have expressed interest in a New York City-area meetup, possibly for a screening of Razor in November. If you are going to be in the area, have any suggestions, or want to jump in on the planning, now’s your chance!
We’ll continue to keep this post on the main page of GWC as long as needed.
The (in)famous Timbuck dropped me an email today indicating he, Mike P., and Raemani are organizing a third Philly-area meetup. They’d love to meet any of you from the NY, NJ, or DE area, and are willing to plan the meet to catch as many of you as possible. If you’re interested, the “Philly Three” will be hanging around in comments here to organize.
Sadly, AA Net Fares doesn’t have a cheapie flight to the northeast this week. One day, though…
Update: (Bump!) There’s still a lot discussion going on here and the meetup hasn’t finalized, so feel free to jump in if you’re in the Northeast and want to participate.
Update: (Bump!) Looks like they’re setting a date.
Thanks to Stevearino and his wife; Nick; and Gray (who drove all the way from Houston) for coming out to the GWC meetup Saturday night! We reveled in jokes, pop culture references, beer, and Indian food (hey, the “Irish” make a good tikka) and peeled off our GWC masks to reveal our true selves – Centurions! And, after Gray left, we actually did talk Galactica. (Sorry, GMDB*.) Anyway, we had a great time and hope to hear more from even more meeter-uppers from around the colonies.
*GMDB is Gray’s new nickname, as she kicks the collective asses of both Audra and IMDB in terms of TV and movie knowledge.
Okay — we’ve been discussing a Dallas-area meetup for a month now, but Audra, Sean, and I were too busy with the massive three-peat week of podcasting to organize it properly. Now that we’re back to one-a-week, I’m ready to do the job right.
So who’s up for a Dallas meetup and when? FYI: Sean is out of town this weekend and next, but will be back following. Audra and I are in town for the next month at least. Note: if some of you are willing to travel but can’t make it at the same time as the others, we’ll schedule more than one meet.
Anyway, let’s work it out in comments, and we’ll see you in Dallas.
Update: This is coming together nicely. August 4th is now a firm date!
Update #2: (Bump!) We’re now planning August 4th starting at 7:30 to 8:00 p.m., and we’ll have a location shortly. If you’re planning on traveling to the meetup, drop us a line (or let us know in comments) and we’ll help you find what you need in the area.
Update #3: We’re on for the Irish Rover in Frisco, TX. (It’s just North of Dallas not far off the Dallas North Tollway. MAP) It’s a pub/restaurant that has food, lots of places to sit, good beer on tap, etc. If you’re traveling, there are numerous hotels nearby.
Audra and I will be in Austin, Texas this weekend, and we’ve got a little bit of time late Saturday night if any of you would like to get together for an impromptu meetup. It’s sort of last minute, but hey — we never pass up an opportunity to shoot the bull about BSG.
We’ll check back in comments later tonight and tomorrow.
Update: We’re thinking late Saturday at the bar in the Omni Hotel Downtown.
Listener Timbuck writes: “Philly-area GWC fans: There’s a mini-meetup this Saturday for the screening of ‘Serenity’ at the Bryn Mawr Film Institute in the Philly suburbs. Looks like myself, Raemani, and Mike P will be there. It’d be great to meet others from the area!”
Feel free to use the comment section of this post to get in touch or lay out details. And if you haven’t yet seen “Serenity” — shame! — you should; it’s a great flick and a fitting end to the much-too-short Firefly series. Audra and I were lucky enough to see one of the pre-release showings with some good friends (whom we actually met via Firefly) and a theater chock-full of hardcore fans. What a great time!
If you’re in the Dallas area, Audra, Sean, and I are hosting a mini-meetup sometime in the next month. We’re working out the details here. And there’s a slight possibility we may be in the Las Vegas area in the next month or so as well. We’ll post as time gets closer.
Welcome
GWC is a community of friendly people who enjoy and participate in geekdom as a whole. We are young and old, female and male, writers and readers, teachers and students, philosophers and skeptics, Browncoats and Trekkies, outside continents and beyond countries -- and we have one thing in common: passionate, shameless enthusiasm.
We’re interested in TV shows, movies, comics, novels, gaming, science, and music. We’re interested in each other. We like to chat about just about any topic. We’ll listen and give informed feedback, and at the end of the day we think of GWC as a clubhouse for a (very large) group of friends.
