And finally, we wrap up today’s reference-hopping sojourn back to where it all started in the BSG miniseries. Toward the end, when we see the first of those “ragtag fleet” shots that would become so familiar over the years, something strange can be noticed by the keen eye. In the top right of the frame, directly behind the spinny ship, a fuzzy blur is visible. When it’s magnified three times, has its brightness/contrast adjusted, is filtered to remove Gaussian blur, and is sufficiently sharpened (it’s very CSI…), an undoubtedly familiar shape emerges. That’s right, GWCers — the USS Enterprise is a member of the fleet. Should we really be that surprised? The crew has shown on numerous occasions that they have no regard for the space-time continuum. Apparently, they just went back a bit further this time around.

The crossover where Galactica and Enterprise are pitted against a Borg cube and a Basestar is just waiting to be written.

As far as I can tell, the Enterprise never made another appearance. Perhaps the Olympic Carrier wasn’t the first ship to be left behind by a fleet jump after all. Either that or they were just around to take some irradiated whales out of the oceans of Picon.

That’s all I’ve got for now, folks, but there are plenty of cameo connections still unmentioned. Have any favorites that I didn’t include? Want to challenge your fellow readers to find something that you uncovered? Think this post proves that I have way too much time on my hands? Let us know!

Heh, that last one looks more like an F-302 to me, then again I have been rewatching Stargate SG-1.

The inverse of the Raiders of the Lost Ark/ R2D2- C3PO cameo is the Staff of Ra showing up in Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode The Gungan General. It is the staff of office for the senator that gets killed in that episode.

Great post. I was thinking of another one as well, the appearance of the Alien head/skull in the trophy room in Predator 2. A neat tie-in for sci fi fans and also rumored to have gotten the ball rolling on the AVP films (for better or worse) ;)

You can’t forget the designation for the room the Final 4 would meet in from BSG. Weaapons Locker 1701-D

Ummmm….also…in the Serenity film, during the final battle sequence against the Alliance there is a sequence that somewhat looks like a Reaver ship tossing R2D2 with a tow hook. I don’t have a screencap but I’m sure anyone who has seen Serenity knows exactly what I’m talking about.
