Live From SDCC: Preview Night

Whew! Once “preview night” meant that while the vendors were still setting up their booths you could get a look at what they might have to offer later in the ‘con. But over the last few years it’s morphed into a fully-up-and-running swagfest! This is also the first year SDCC has offered preview night panel, which I believe was about three pilots set for fall: V, Human Target, and Vampire Diaries. Wow! While we didn’t attend, I think a GWCer or two might have.
Badge registration went fairly well this year. There must have been twenty people printing badges, and the line moved steadily. I snapped the photo above at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday — right before we headed over to pick up our badges! — from a good friend’s brother’s condo right across the street from the con, twenty floors up. What an excellent view!
Read on for additional photos and fun from preview night!

We saw these dudes rolling around and having fun with people on the sidewalk in front of the convention center. Dude nearby had the remote controls. Cute!

SciFi usually works from an area on the ‘con floor. But this year they took over the cafe at the bottom level of the Hard Rock Cafe on 5th Avenue — complete with a white picket fence and cardboard stand-ups of the Eureka cast! (We missed the swag bags, though.)

And of course D and I just had to get us a pic with this beautifully sculpted Wolverine!
On tap for the BKitty entourage tomorrow: BSG hosted by Richard Hatch with Bear McCreary. And tomorrow night we head to the House of Blues to see and hear the music of Battlestar Galactica! We bought the VIP passes, so we hope to have some further coolness to report!

Welcome
GWC is a community of friendly people who enjoy and participate in geekdom as a whole. We are young and old, female and male, writers and readers, teachers and students, philosophers and skeptics, Browncoats and Trekkies, outside continents and beyond countries -- and we have one thing in common: passionate, shameless enthusiasm.
We’re interested in TV shows, movies, comics, novels, gaming, science, and music. We’re interested in each other. We like to chat about just about any topic. We’ll listen and give informed feedback, and at the end of the day we think of GWC as a clubhouse for a (very large) group of friends.
