Going To The Dogs

This is Dug. Dug is the impossibly lovable dog in Pixar’s new movie UP which opens 05.29.09. If you haven’t seen the trailer it might be easy to miss Dug’s sweet collar. Of all the Sci-Fi devices I’ve ever seen or even heard about - this dog to human/human to dog translator collar is, by far, the first one I’d have if I could. More than a cloaking devise or even a light saber, I’d want my bestest friend in the whole world to be able to talk to me.
I saw the trailer for UP in the theater while waiting for the awesomeness that is the new Star Trek movie to unfold but still, Dug stayed with me. I’m a complete and total sucker for dogs. Dug here is no exception. I know they have the “dog translator” now but it’s kinda lame and wouldn’t do justice to my homie.
Nope, this would be the way to go. I nearly fell out of my seat when I saw the trailer for this the first time. It’s perfect. Complete down the way dogs are distracted and how they deal with it.
All I can say is I must have watched the trailer about 50 times to see Dug speak and it never gets old. Someday, someone is going to come up with a real one of these things and should I be alive to see it I’ll sell everything I own just to slip one on my pups neck and chat with him. I’d start by explaining about why he should not run through mud if he hates baths so much. Then I’d ask him why he turns around 20 times before he can lay down to go to sleep. You know - the basics.
[Sigh] If only.
Until then, we have Dug.

Damn. Mine would just say “You’re Home!” “Feed Me!” “That new cat is mean!”
I’m totally with you, Sean. My sibs and I like to make up the spoken thoughts we believe our dogs are having, and Dug sounds just like I’d imagine a dog would. This movie looks hilarious, and I can’t
*Squirrel!*
Our puppy Weasley would say- “The dining room table set sure is yummy!”
Saw it today, and I am in LOVE! Dug makes me miss my G-dog so much! Oh the hours I’ve spent having mute conversations.
And now I have a way of articulating my ADD tendencies! lol! I’m with ya, Stroog!
