It’s week thirty-eight of our planned off-season re-watch of the entire “re-imagined” BSG canon, and after a little time off to watch Razor, it’s time to move on to the season three episode “The Eye of Jupiter.” So why not join us here for the GWC online frak party? There’s room for everyone, though you’ll have to bring your own snacks…

Feel free to jump in at any point with your comments on this week’s episode as the re-watch is by definition spoiler free. We’ll be in and out, but we’ll definitely take a look at your comments before we start next week’s podcast.

Note: Though a lot of the frak party will likely take place in the GWC Forum — click [here] to enter and join the fun — we’re going to leave comments open here as well as some listeners and readers have asked us to do so. Enjoy!

Here’s the new weekly presidential approval poll. Remember — even if you voted last week, you’ll want to vote again on this poll as this is a weekly feature and the results will vary from week to week. Let your opinion be heard (for free)!

Remember: This approval poll applies to the current GWC re-watch schedule, which means you should be voting for your feelings circa Episode 310: “The Passage.”

Do you approve or disapprove of the way Laura Roslin is handling her job as president?

  • Approve: 77% (30 votes)
  • Disapprove: 21% (8 votes)
  • Unsure: 3% (1 vote)

Total Votes: 39

Don’t miss Wil Wheaton’s great show intro, plus lots of fun — this week’s re-watch episode, some Firefly, and, of course, a tiny bit of Mass Effect. Highlights: we question the Galactica’s sad lack of sunglasses (V had ‘em!), compare BSG’s radiation monitors to Magnadoodles, re-mourn Kat’s departure, discuss a listener’s contention that Starbuck doesn’t really sleep around, suffer through Chuck rambling about some Heinlein short story, hear Audra’s Madonna/Evita impression, listen to Sean’s answer to a great listener question (landspeeder, transformer, or green woman), guess what “job” Anders runs off to do after his reveal, run down the pros and cons of offing one’s Cylon self just for weight loss, and bitch about producers’ decision to revive Kitt — the original Cylon — as a Mustang.

If you’ve yet to join the GWC crew in the official Firefly re-watch, now’s a great time to start. This week’s episode is Bushwhacked, important in that it introduces us to reavers — critical to anyone who’s seen the Firefly movie Serenity — plus it goes a long way toward establishing why the Flrefly ‘verse is the way it is.

We’ll be watching this week as well, and you can join the official discussion over on the GWC Forum.

Besides discussing the great BSG re-watch episode Unfinished Business, we check in on the Firefly re-watch and other sci-fi topics as well. Highlights: We learn that Sean couldn’t possibly serve on Mal’s crew, discover that one of our listeners has a remote connection to Ezri Dax, note two examples of uterus-shaped ships, question the latest fad of bashing Mass Effect because of its 60-seconds of sex content (out of 60-80 hours of straight-through game play), weigh in on the Chewbacca (with his “wurse”) vs. Wrex (and his biotics) forum debate, wonder why Tigh didn’t fight, comment on Roslyn’s beautiful red dress, and compare one journalist’s “sex box” (360) comments to Justin Timberlake’s SNL emmy-winning other sex box tune. Really.

We enjoy this weeks’ BSG re-watch episode Hero, plus deviate as usual. Highlights: we suggest that maybe having a nightmare about asking others to shoot you (after a night of threesome) might indicate regret, compare Baltar and Benjamin Franklin (in the way they both try to imitate Jesus and Socrates), love Tigh’s efficient and effective method of dealing with Bulldog, take another great call from Emily (from Ohio), bitch about the limited ‘Carpet Ride in Trek’s first contact (and the Phoenix’s lack of bass), recommend seeing Wil Wheaton in Phoenix later this month, reminisce about The Abyss (and other older sci-fi recommendations), and cover more Mass Effect (as we continue playing obscessively).

Just a quick note to let you know what we did indeed record a podcast for this week. It’s currently held up by an technical glitch from our hosting service Libsyn. Libsyn’s been wonderful to work with and has always been incredibly helpful in resolving any problems, so we imagine they’ll have things crankin’ again soon.

Update: As you’ve probably already noticed, Libsyn has resolved the issue with the file for Podcast #81, and we’ve published it. Thanks for all your patience!
