Maybe it’s the fact that during the week Roslin tried to steal the election her approval ratings dropped to an all-time low of 18% — lower than President Bush! — or maybe it’s his wingwomen, but the results of last week’s Presidential approval poll (co-inciding with Lay Down Your Burdens, Part Two) are somewhat startlining.

Viewers seem to approve of Baltar’s first week as President — at least 53% of them.

Could this represent an approval of Baltar’s settlement plan? Or were viewers voting against Roslin more than for Baltar. Or are there just more Baltar lovers out there than we previously suspected? Only you know, as you’re the people who voted. How  bout clueing us in a bit in comments?

Here’s the new weekly presidential approval poll. Remember — even if you voted last week, you’ll want to vote again on this poll as this is a weekly feature and the results will vary from week to week. Let your opinion be heard (for free)!

Remember: This approval poll applies to the current GWC re-watch schedule, which means you should be voting for your feelings circa Episode 301: “Occupation/Precipice.”

Do you approve or disapprove of the way Gaius Baltar is handling his job as president?

  • Approve: 57% (125 votes)
  • Disapprove: 41% (90 votes)
  • Unsure: 2% (3 votes)

Total Votes: 218

chuck-trans.gifIt’s week thirty-one of our planned off-season re-watch of the entire “re-imagined” BSG canon, and it’s time to move on to the season three premiere “Occupations/Precipice.” So why not join us here for the GWC online frak party? There’s room for everyone, though you’ll have to bring your own snacks…

Feel free to jump in at any point with your comments on this week’s episode as the re-watch is by definition spoiler free. We’ll be in and out, but we’ll definitely take a look at your comments before we start next week’s podcast.

Note: Though a lot of the frak party will likely take place in the GWC Forum — click [here] to enter and join the fun — we’re going to leave comments open here as well as some listeners and readers have asked us to do so. Enjoy!

This week we get another great ‘sode as well as one of the most heart-stopping episodes of the entire rewatch. Highlights: we let everyone know about this months GWC book club selection Ender’s Game and our latest non-Galactica rewatch Tron, wonder whether we saw the beginnings of human-appearing Cylons in the ‘sode, talk Halloween costumes, enjoy Baltar’s (misplaced) faith in Roslin’s fair election practices, discuss Western states, love on pre-breakdown Ally Sheedy, and discover that Audra knows her Police Academy.

If you haven’t seen this classic sci-fi flick from the early ’80s — or just want to re-live some great childhood memories — grab a copy of the re-mastered DVD from your local video store, Blockbuster, or Netflix, and join us for a re-watch. Sure, the effects don’t hold up that well twenty-five years later, but the story does. It’s man-in-the-machine for the masses!

The votes are in, and this month’s community-selected book of the month is Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card. If you haven’t yet read this much-borrowed-from classic, this is a great opportunity to delve into it with lots of company as the GWC community reads it together.

And if there’s a book you’d enjoy reading with the community, you can post your recommendation in the GWC Forum’s Book Club section. We gather up all the selections and start voting on the 15th of each month.
