Here’s the new weekly presidential approval poll. Remember — even if you voted last week, you’ll want to vote again on this poll as this is a weekly feature and the results will vary from week to week. Let your opinion be heard (for free)!

Remember: This approval poll applies to the current GWC re-watch schedule, which means you should be voting for your feelings circa Episode 217: “The Captain’s Hand.”

Do you approve or disapprove of the way Laura Roslin is handling her job as president?

  • Approve: 79% (26 votes)
  • Disapprove: 21% (7 votes)
  • Unsure: 0% (0 votes)

Total Votes: 33

In this week’s ‘cast we check out the first new BSG since springtime, plus we lament the result of this week’s rewatch episode, Sacrifice. Highlights: We dish on young Husker and his blonde friend, comment on Sci-Fi’s (new and unusual) definition of the word “immediate,” wonder where the mini-sodes will take us (besides “Husker Shaves,” or “Husker tries on a sweater), remind everyone why playing boardgames with Chuck or Sean is fun — though playing with both isn’t — play the seven degrees of sci-fi Shakespeare, talk Tron (letting everyone in on some GWC trivia), miss Billy in a big way, wonder if he really did save Dee, and listen to an on-site report from GWC correspondant Alpaca Herder at the site of our future national GWC meetup.

chuck-trans.gifDon’t miss tonight’s Razor Flashback, described by SciFi as “the best two minutes on television” and described by GWC’s own Number 13 as “the first new BSG material since SPRING!” It’s embedded in tonight’s new Flash Gordon airing.

Various sources indicate that the Flashback will appear on SciFi’s website immediately after broadcast, but considering the BSG community’s generall-negative view toward Flash — and how we sometimes had a hell of a time streaming the Minisodes previously on release day — I think I’m going to actually TiVo Flash to make sure we get it.

Regardless, feel free to comment here, or to join the frak party over on the GWC Forum as you wait for — and hopefully see — the Flashback.

Note: You’ve probably heard a lot of discussion about some of the things Jamie Bamber and Aaron Douglas said during Dragon*Con recently. Well this post isn’t about those things. It’s about some of the other awesome things that happened at D*C – as experienced by longtime GWC community member Raemani. I’ll let her take it from here.

Because it definitely colors my experience, I should start out by saying that I decided to go to Dragon*Con while hanging out on the SciFi.com forums in the Jamie Bamber appreciation thread – we call ourselves the “Bamber Bunnies.” Eight of us who talk there went, and three of the girls brought their husbands.  In addition, about twenty other people from around the forum joined us there.

I’d also like to point out that I owe all of my pictures — which you can view in the GWC photo pool — and videos to the people I was with.  Because there were so many of us, there was really no need for me to take pictures. As it was we had over 600 pictures between us after the event.

Read on past the jump for a daily breakdown of my experiences.

chuck-trans.gifFor those of you lucky enough to live in the great northeast, GWC’s very own Philly Crue has set a date for their next meetup: October 21st. They’re working out the details as to the activities in which they plan to partake, so if you have ideas be sure to jump in.

Check out the forum thread for additional information, and don’t forget to keep an eye on the new GWC official calendar for up-to-the-minute meetup and re-watch information.

The GWC Calendar [GWC Forum]

chuck-trans.gifIf you love reading sci-fi as much as watching it, there’s nothing more fun than meeting someone who introduces you to a new story — or better yet, an author who’s written many, many stories that you can read over the next months (or years) of your life. Well, now you can meet dozens of people like that — your friends in the GWC community.

This week we added a special new area to the GWC Forum where we can all participate in selecting a new book for each month of the year. In a separate forum in the new ‘club space you can discuss the current (or a past) book with everyone else who’s reading it. We’ll post the books here, too, so you can participate even if you’re not a forum denizen.

We’re looking forward to seeing your suggestions — and I certainly plan on reading more than just the ones that become “book of the month.”

For details, check out the Book Selection and Group Read Discussion areas over on the forum.
