A number of OGs contacted us today to remind everyone about the Razor trailer airing during tonight’s Eureka season premiere on Sci-Fi. The episode airs at 9 p.m. (8 p.m. central), and if you’re one of the few who haven’t already snaked a look at the Razor preview via YouTube or others, you’ll definitely want to catch it.
Hell, I’m going to TiVo it just in case there’s more to it than what I’ve already seen.

Update: According to most comments, the clips we’ve seen online are only “teasers.” Tonight’s “trailer” will be longer.
Welcome to season two! It’s week fifteen of our planned off-season re-watch of the entire “re-imagined” BSG canon, and it’s time to move on to the season two episode “Valley of Darkness.” So why not join us here for the GWC online frak party? There’s room for everyone, though you’ll have to bring your own snacks…
Feel free to jump in at any point with your comments on this week’s episode as the re-watch is by definition spoiler free. We’ll be in and out, but we’ll definitely take a look at your comments before we start next week’s podcast.
See you here all week!
Here’s the new weekly presidental approval poll. Remember — even if you voted last week, you’ll want to vote again on this poll as this is a weekly feature and the results will vary from week to week. Let your opinion be heard (for free)!
Remember: This approval poll applies to the current GWC re-watch schedule, which means you should be voting for your feelings circa Episode 202: “Valley of Darkness.”
Do you approve or disapprove of the way Laura Roslin is handling her job as president?
- Approve: 67% (35 votes)
- Disapprove: 23% (13 votes)
- Unsure: 8% (4 votes)
Total Votes: 52
Note: This poll is closed.
“Scattered” tells us a lot about Tigh, doesn’t it? Highlights: We dissect the aftermath of Sharon’s penultimate season one action, wonder aloud about Adama and Tigh’s backstory, analyze the causes and effects of Crashdown’s leadership deficiencies — with a hefty qualifier that no one knows how they’ll react in combat – make a prediction about Athena’s future, debate how much evidence Baltar’s decision to go to Kobol gives us about Six’s nature, reel at Audra’s incredible, Socinus-recognizing memory, listen to a caller and Chuck expound in detail upon the subject of cable vs. hydraulic vs. fly-by-wire in terms of Viper pedal pressure and Starbuck’s growth as an officer, question the existance of Chuck’s “good” twin (and Sean’s half-good twin), waste a little time talking Transformers, and finally lose it at the end tearing off on a Halo and Venture Brothers rant. Hey — sometimes we can’t help it. Enjoy.

A GWC listener recently asked an interesting question that I thought would be fun to pose to y’all:
If Battlestar Galactica were to become a theme-park ride, what would you like it to be? A themed boat ride like Pirates of the Carribbean, a screamin’ Viper-ride rollercoaster, a bungee drop, a no-gravity chamber surrounded by 360 degrees of video from Exodus, Part II?
My idea: We could all ride in individual tubs of goo that glide on a smooth track through a model basestar. Then at the end you stop in a house of mirrors where copies of yourself are all around your tub. Cool!
This one’s just for fun. Let’s hear it!
After reading everyone’s comments so far, I’m starting to think this way: Roslin is still president, even if the military coup has rendered her somewhat powerless. So…Â

I’d love to put up an approval poll for this week, but I’m not sure who to ask you about. Roslin’s presidency was “terminated,” but does that include the entire executive branch? If so, then I suppose we should be voting on our approval of Tigh. If not, I suppose Baltar is president and we should be voting about him.
What do you think? Who’s in charge — both legally and practically?

Finally, here’s part three of our weekend podcast extravaganza: our audio commentary for Kobol’s Last Gleaming, Part 2. If you’re new to Galactica Watercooler, you may want to back up to Podcast #49 to get more of a feel for how a normal GWC podcast works. See you next week.

As a number of you have astutely noticed, our current re-watch schedule runs a tad bit slow in terms of reaching a target of completing the entire canon just shy of season four. Now that we’ve reached the end of season one, we wanted to take a minute to update you on our plan.
And unlike the Cylons in season three, we do have a plan.
First of all, we’re combining all two-part episodes into a single re-watch week. These are more fun to watch together anyway. Next, we’ve succumbed to the (correct) pressure and created an official Google calendar for the re-watch:
As you can see from the calendar, we’re currently finishing up season three in February. While official sources say we’ll receive season four in “early 2008,” we (sadly) can’t assume that means January 1st. So this schedule might work fine. Then again, we’re also going to need to devote some time to Razor in November, so we may need to compress the schedule a bit more.
That’s really why we created the Google calendar. There’s no way for us to know at this moment how we’re going to need to handle, say, September’s re-watch schedule. We’ll have to talk it out here on GWC.com and adjust as we go to make sure we’re all caught up and ready for Razor and season four.
So subscribe to the Google calendar and you’ll automatically be privvy to the new sh… tuff.
PS: We’re setting up for the commentary ‘casts now and should be recording in an hour or so. Look for more of this weekend’s podcasting extravaganza later today.
Update: Sorry about issues with the button. I’ll troubleshoot them as soon as we’re done recording today’s commentary episodes. One down, one to go!
Update #2: The button works fine — which shouldn’t surprise me so much as it’s a direct copy of Google’s code — but you must be logged into your google calendar when you click it. Then it offers you the opportunity to subscribe.
Though we take some serious BSG-related calls, this is technically a “bonus” podcast celebrating the 50th podcast. We go pretty much wild. Highlights: we talk Philly meetup, remind everyone how awesome our listeners are, tell a Tracy Lords story, bleat about not receiving enough Zarek time in season three, note that Shaymus was not high in his last call, eke lots of impressions out of Sean, beat the RDM/Sopranos ending horse some more, speculate more on colonial beer, offer advice on selecting sparkling wine, and make a strange connection between Tunguska and clarinet-playing pigs. Don’t miss the intro blooper reel! Congrats everyone on making the GWC community a great place to visit (and live). You rock!

Welcome
GWC is a community of friendly people who enjoy and participate in geekdom as a whole. We are young and old, female and male, writers and readers, teachers and students, philosophers and skeptics, Browncoats and Trekkies, outside continents and beyond countries -- and we have one thing in common: passionate, shameless enthusiasm.
We’re interested in TV shows, movies, comics, novels, gaming, science, and music. We’re interested in each other. We like to chat about just about any topic. We’ll listen and give informed feedback, and at the end of the day we think of GWC as a clubhouse for a (very large) group of friends.
