comander-chuck.jpgWe had a great time at the San Francisco meetup, and I remember a few people asking for Texas — you know, “central coast” — meetups.  Are any of you interested in maybe getting together somewhere around Dallas in the next few weeks?

If so, let us know in comments and we’ll see if we can pick a day/place/time where all three of us can make it — and as many of you can as well.  If not, we’ll just see you on the podcast as usual.

capt-audra.jpgJust in case you were worried the GWC crew was focusing too much on heady discussion, here’s your reprieve. Based on our discussion in podcast #45 and on popular demand (oh, all right, we just wanted to do it) — Who’s the hottest on the show? You decide. Vote once for each category. Boo ya!

comander-chuck.jpgIt’s week nine of our planned off-season re-watch of the entire “re-imagined” BSG canon, and it’s time to move on to the season one episode “Flesh And Bone.”  So why not join us here for the GWC online frak party?  There’s room for everyone, though you’ll have to bring your own snacks…

Feel free to jump in at any point with your comments on this week’s episode as the re-watch is by definition spoiler free.  We’ll be in and out, but we’ll definitely take a look at your comments before we start next week’s podcast.

See you here all week!

Here’s the new weekly presidental approval poll.  Remember — even if you voted last week, you’ll want to vote again on this poll as this is a weekly feature and the results will vary from week to week.  Let your opinion be heard (for free)!

Remember: This approval poll applies to the current GWC re-watch schedule, which means you should be voting for your feelings circa Episode 108: “Flesh And Bone.”

Do you approve or disapprove of the way Laura Roslin is handling her job as president?

  • Approve: 82% (51 votes)
  • Disapprove: 13% (8 votes)
  • Unsure: 5% (3 votes)

Total Votes: 62

Note: This poll is closed, but you can vote in the new one.

We jump right in to Six Degrees of Separation this week and take a few more listener calls.  Highlights: we discuss the evolution of Baltar over three seasons, question (yet again) the nature of six, compare lousy-shot centurions to lousy-shot stormtroopers, note how Roslin helps keep BSG “babe-a-licious,” and comment on Tigh’s “weight loss patch.”

We’re getting ready to record as I’m typing this, so you’ll definitely see a GWC podcast tonight.

comander-chuck.jpgPlease excuse this somewhat-non-BSG-content, but…  I’m really frustrated that GWC doesn’t work well on Macs — or IE7 now — and it’s largely because we haven’t had a chance to update it since launch.  I love the layout, but I really wish we could support Safari/FF(Mac)/IE7/IE6/FF(PC) — which seem to make up the vast majority of our readers.

If any of you have tips, feel free to drop ‘em my way.  I’m pretty sure the problem stems from two sources: my column-org CSS and the placement of the top of the graphic that makes up the top of the greenish center column.  We had to do some browser detection to get it right in IE6/FF at launch, and it’s all busted now that browsers have just moved on (and it never worked right for the Mac).

I can’t offer much in the way of compensation for your help, but I can offer two things: 1) a shout-out here and on the podcast, and 2) I’ll tell you what one of the little bits in the green graphic says.  You have to promise not to tell anyone, though, as they’re top-secret.

Anyway, if you have suggestions, fire away, and thanks!

comander-chuck.jpgIt’s week eight of our planned off-season re-watch of the entire “re-imagined” BSG canon, and it’s time to move on to the season one episode “Six Degrees of Separation.”  So why not join us here for the GWC online frak party?  There’s room for everyone, though you’ll have to bring your own snacks…

(Corrected!  If you received #43 in place of #44, you’ll now get the correct ‘cast here!)  Sorry this ‘cast was late — though Audra was ready and waiting to record, Sean and I were beat after returning from San Francisco. We delve into this week’s re-watch episode, Litmus. Highlights: we love on Adama’s great quote toward the end, wonder whether this witch hunt would have resolved differently had it occured in season two or season three, and listen to Sean’s goat jokes.

mc-sean2.jpgI would like to take this opportunity to give a super shout out to Phil and Lisa for coming out to meet us in San Francisco last night. Though we have seen interesting sights and met all kinds of cool people, for me the highlight of the trip has been meeting Galactica fans that share my fever for BSG.

Phil and Lisa proved without a shadow of a doubt that they are hardcore GWC fans by manhandling the long drive and arriving to a city they had never been to armed only with a slightly worn google map and awesome BSG theories.

They of course recognized Chuck straight away because he is six foot one and commands attention wherever he goes with his silver hair and huge smile. Luckily for us, he also looks exactly like his pic on the site so Lisa picked him out of the tiny, crowded bar instantly.

I thoroughly enjoyed rapping with friendly people whose sci-fi cravings were aligned with ours and hashing out a few opinions over a beer or two. This is the reason we started GWC and it seems that no matter where you are there are awesome people who like to get together and discuss our favorite show.

Also, thanks to Phil and Lisa for making us feel welcome so far away from home! You guys are frakking awesome!

~Sean
