Welcome
GWC is a community of friendly people who enjoy and participate in geekdom as a whole. We are young and old, female and male, writers and readers, teachers and students, philosophers and skeptics, Browncoats and Trekkies, outside continents and beyond countries -- and we have one thing in common: passionate, shameless enthusiasm.
We’re interested in TV shows, movies, comics, novels, gaming, science, and music. We’re interested in each other. We like to chat about just about any topic. We’ll listen and give informed feedback, and at the end of the day we think of GWC as a clubhouse for a (very large) group of friends.

Wow do I feel special. You guys did an entire episode on my phone calls? I have to laugh because you guys always seem to talk about the same ideas that I have before I can even get them to you. Ah well. Great minds and all that, right?
Thanks for the conversation on these issues, although most of them were rehashing. It’ll definitely be great to begin new discussions with fresh material after tonight!
Great ‘cast. One of my hobbies is archeoastronomy and have been considering doing my own Galactica podcast discussing the references to terrestrial archeology and astronomical/astrological symbology in the show. Anyway, I enjoyed the show and wanted to pass on some info on the actual horoscope and the 13th Constellation, if you already haven’t looked it up.

Chip you are AWESOME! Thanks so much for that info! I knew something about the thirteenth constellations but I couldn’t remember the details during the podcast. Thanks for bringing it to light. Any idea who came up with these dates in the first place?
Probably aliens… ;D
I really don’t know, but there is enormous speculation of a lost “wisdom cult” existing prior to the the Egyptian and Mayan cultures that fed both cultures with the engineering and agricultural knowledge that help build those civilizations. If I can find anything more, I’ll let you know.
I’m liking your podcasts.
RDM said somewhere (possibly DVD commentary) that the glowing back thing was done just because it was cool, and I think he regretted going there in hindsight. That said, yours is the best retro-eplaination that I’ve heard.
TOS did have a different units of time measurement – microns, centars, etc. I got the impression that the names were based on metric measurements. TOS was aired when there was a big push for the US to adopt metric measurements, hence the fact that the thought process was there and that it was easy for the viewers at that time to understand.
